The Yellow Flowers

“I have only minutes. In all likelihood, I will never return here.”

An essay from the trilogy of Holocaust essays in Hallow This Ground, this one about the memorial at the Treblinka death camp. The fractured epigraphs were an accident–first I gave the sections an extra indentation, then, convinced that they didn’t look different enough, changed the font. I distinctly remember saying “whoa” at the result. Originally published in Fourth River.
